Hospitality Focused Positions

 

As required by the course, 600 hours of Hospitality Focused work experience must be completed prior to October 15th fall and Febraury 16th spring . This experience is a critical framework for downstream coursework, like that of junior and senior year. This experience has facilitated in the professional growth of our students and given them operational and technical skills in their desired sector of the industry. Only hours within the hospitality are counted toward your total, however the following restrictions apply:

 

  • Positions such as nanny, lifeguard, camp counselor, receptionist, sales clerk, and landscaper are NOT acceptable positions

  • Only 50 hours of industry related work can be recorded previous to your high school graduation.

  • Only 100 hours of volunteer work can be counted toward your total, including: working a soup kitchen, restaurant service, and planning events

  • All successful hours completed during the HM 212 externship will count

  • Hours worked with any of JMU's Themed Events will NOT count toward your 600 hour total.
